Start a Successful Car Wash Business

Planning on starting a car wash business? It’s one of the best businesses to start because of one simple reason, almost everyone wants to drive a clean vehicle, and most people don’t have the time to wash their vehicles themselves. Check out Car Wash Statistics USA.

Thankfully, starting a successful car wash business can be easier than you think, especially if you follow these tips:

Tip #1 – Be Creative

Car washes can be found in most cities nationwide but the key to long term success is creativity and offering your customers an ‘experience’ that will make them look forward to coming back for their next wash.

Some of the things that you can do to make your carwash an experience include:

  • Offer a fun ‘photobooth’ experience for your customer while they are in their vehicle that shares their picture to their social media pages.
  • Change the colors of your exterior protectants. There are so many options that you can choose from! From red, orange, blue to rainbow colored, you have option to change the color of your protectants to offer your customers a fun and color car wash experience.

Tip #2 – Develop A Company Culture

Another key to success with starting a profitable car wash is developing a company culture and sticking with that ideology.

To have happy, long-term employees who are assets to your business, you must screen all your employees and make sure they are willing to adapt to your company culture, which should include guidance on how to treat other employees and customers.

Just because someone may have worked for another car wash in the past doesn’t mean they will be a right fit for your business so it’s best to screen and place new employees carefully.

Tip #4 – Offer Free Vacuums After The Wash

Another thing that you can do to make your car wash stand out from your competitors is offering free vacuums. This move will offer your customers a valuable service that they need, save them money, and keep them on your lot longer while they vacuum out their vehicles. Extra time spent at the car wash also means that your employees can have more time to upsell your customers on additional services like headlight restoration.

Tip #3 – Have A Point of Sale That’s Unique

The point of sale is obviously the first thing that a customer will see before they enter your car wash and it’s something that should be as easy as possible for them to use to purchase their car washes and add on any additional upsells to their order.

Besides being easy to use, the point of sale should also make it possible for you to have start a ‘car wash club’ for your regular customers that will offer them unlimited washes for $20 or more per month.

These memberships should be easy to activate at moment’s notice and not take up your employee’s valuable time, especially on busy days.
