Success at Utah based Tagg-N-Go Car Wash: On June 14, 2022, they had 7 locations, today, they now have 33. That’s 26 new car washes; 15 acquired, 11 built. That means roughly one new location every 60 days, on average, for over 4 years.
Except it wasn’t average, there was an 11 month stretch in there where they didn’t open a single new one.
Here’s what scaling to this level has taught Conner Atkins (co-founder) of TaggNGo Car Wash, if you are considering scaling:
• Good people make all the difference.
• Your relationship with your vendors matter.
• Pay matters, but so does culture, your systems, and how you grow.
• In a growing company, you attract people who want to grow. In a stagnant one, it’s a lot harder to keep those same people who want growth.
• It will take you roughly twice as long as you think it will.
Good and bad, this has taught them and made them better because of it. Conner is glad they did it for their customers and team members. But, he’d do a few things differently if they did it again.

About Tagg-N-Go
Tagg-N-Go’s origins go back to 2013, when founders Quinn Allgood and Conner Atkin bought their first self-serve car wash after leaving banking careers. Both were influenced by their late fathers, who were entrepreneurs, and that played a role in their decision to build something of their own. That first wash taught them the reality of the business fast: consistency matters, details matter, and customer experience is everything. Over time, they shifted toward the express wash model to create a more reliable, streamlined experience for guests and a format that made unlimited washing simple. The name “Tagg” comes from a penny stock Quinn and Conner invested in early in their partnership. In 2016, they launched the Tagg-N-Go brand and opened the first location on January 8, 2016, on Sunset Boulevard in St. George, Utah. Visit https://taggngo.com/.
