Autobell Car Wash’s Annual Cleanup of Charlotte’s Little Sugar Creek

For the 26th year, team members from Autobell Car Wash recently pulled on rubber boots and hit the banks of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway here, pulling trash and debris from the waterway section that Charlotte-based Autobell first adopted in 2000.

The annual Autobell Creek Walk is part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Adopt-A-Stream program. This year, 22 team members representing 6 local stores and the home office spent severalhours working the company’s stretch of creek between East Boulevard and Morehead Street. When the boots and gloves came off, the crew had hauled out nearly 400 pounds of trash, with notable finds including fluorescent lights, metal outdoor chairs, and large broken metal pipes. The company treated team members to beverages and lunch to cap the morning.

“Twenty-six years in, this event still energizes our team. There’s something powerful about rolling up your sleeves alongside your colleagues to do something that’s genuinely good for the community, and this creek that runs right through the heart of Charlotte,” said Autobell CEO and owner Chuck Howard“We’re proud to keep showing up, year after year.”

Waterway cleanups are just one way Autobell backs up its commitment to environmental stewardship. Across all locations, the company treats 100% of its wash water and recycles up to 100% through innovative, environmentally friendly systems, along with other on-site water conservation procedures.
