Tagg-N-Go Opens 30th Location

Success Story: Serving customers throughout Utah, Nevada and Idaho, Tagg-N-Go Car Wash is a St. George-based business with humble beginnings. By putting people first, being part of the community and always striving to improve, Tagg-N-Go’s founders have cracked the code for success, and the sky’s the limit.

Tagg-N-Go opened its 30th location in Price on Aug. 6. That milestone ranks the locally owned and operated company among America’s 40 largest car wash chains.

“It’s surreal but also deeply validating. To be recognized nationally shows that doing things the right way – focusing on people, quality and community – still works,” CEO, co-founder and owner Quinn Allgood said. “As a company proudly founded in St. George, it means a lot to share this with the community that has been with us from day one.”

Tagg-N-Go began as a dream shared by Allgood and Conner Atkin, two longtime friends from St. George who both lost their fathers at a young age. Watching their dads build businesses in Southern Utah left a lasting impression, and they wanted to follow in their footsteps.

In 2013, while working at a bank, Allgood and Atkin were looking for a project that they could pour themselves into. Eventually, they came across a rundown self-serve car wash for sale. They had no experience, no capital and no idea how to fix car wash equipment. But what they did have was drive.

After being rejected by 10 different lenders, the duo pieced together a creative deal using seller financing and a small bank loan. That was the beginning of their journey into the car wash space.

The early days were humbling, Allgood said, with the friends often feeling more like janitors than entrepreneurs. They cleaned walls, shoveled mud, picked up trash and even answered 2 a.m. phone calls from customers. Through it all, they remained dedicated to providing facilities that were clean, reliable and consistent.

Allgood and Atkin soon observed the express tunnel model gaining momentum in other markets and knew it was the future. They launched the first Tagg-N-Go in 2016 and never looked back.

“When you take the opportunities life gives you and go all in, amazing things can happen,” Atkin said. “We’re fully passionate about Tagg-N-Go and focused on being the best car wash in the region.”

Today, Tagg-N-Go has washed over 10 million cars, built a team of more than 450 employees across three states and remains headquartered in the same community where it all began. It’s also the official car wash of the Utah Jazz.

Tagg-N-Go keeps things simple by offering unlimited washes at a low price, plus free vacuums and towels. For members, it’s like owning their own car wash without the hassle.

Allgood and Atkin continue to invest in both their technology and their team. Along with expanding into new markets, the company prioritizes bringing more value to customers with the addition of services like Interior Express in Utah County.

As Tagg-N-Go’s network grows, so does the convenience of its membership model. Whether customers are in St. George, Salt Lake City or Idaho Falls, they can use their pass at any site and expect the same great service.

Even more importantly, every new location creates leadership roles, growth opportunities and long-term stability for employees and their families. Not just jobs, but real careers.

From wash attendants to site managers, the Tagg-N-Go team brings care and energy to everything they do. Allgood and Atkin have worked hard to build a culture centered around five core values: customer-focused, driven, engaged, growing and fun. Since the beginning, these values have guided the way they treat customers, how they train employees and the decisions they make.

Tagg-N-Go is also committed to giving back. Whether it’s raising money for families battling cancer through the annual Scarewash event or donating thousands of dollars to schools and local organizations, they aim to make a difference in every community they serve.

“The saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ is no different in business. We couldn’t do it without employees, customers, vendors and some luck along the way,” Atkin said. “We know that this opportunity to create something special is a gift and a stewardship, and we don’t take it lightly.”

And the friends and business partners are staying grounded, even as Tagg-N-Go spreads far beyond their hometown and grows into something bigger than either of them could have ever imagined.

“Every new location we open is a tribute to the lessons we learned here in St. George,” Allgood said. “We’re proud to represent Southern Utah on a bigger stage, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”
